I had my 12 week OB appt today which was a welcomed event! The doctor was one that I had not met yet and she was quite young but very impressive. She plopped a bunch of goo just under and to the right of my belly button and pushed the stethoscope (for lack of a better word b/c I don't know the actual term) into the goo and almost immediately we heard BO's very strong heart!
She calculated the heartbeat to be ~158 beats per minute, which is on the high end of the normal scale. She then turned to me and said "Now don't you believe those wives' tales about a high heart beat!" and I said yep, my friends have already claimed it's a girl ;)
I will go back in 4 weeks for another heartbeat check and then in 6 weeks for the anatomy ultrasound...and then it's time to SHOP!!
